How can we help you?

Can my Kaleidescape System catalog, import and play back DVDs other than Region 1?

Any Kaleidescape component with an optical drive is configured for Region 1 DVDs when shipped, but this setting can changed up to four times. This restriction is dictated by Kaleidescape's CSS License Agreement with the DVD Copy Control Association, Inc.

When cataloging, each device withing the same system can be configured with a different region to accommodate the ongoing cataloging of discs from multiple regions. Once cataloged, the movie is played from the disc meaning the player or disc vault that contains the disc must match the region code of that disc.

When importing, each device within the same system can be configured with a different region to accommodate ongoing imports from multiple regions. Once imported, any player will play back any DVD movie regardless of the region code.
CSS-protected DVDs cannot be imported on systems purchased from Kaleidescape after November 30th, 2014. For more information, please visit
CSS-Protected-DVD-FAQs. Strato systems do not support the import of discs. On systems that do not support imports, Blu-ray discs and DVDs may be cataloged so that they can be shown in the on-screen user interface, just like content downloaded from the Kaleidescape Movie Store.
