How can discs be ejected from a Kaleidescape Disc Server or a Kaleidescape Disc Vault?

Use the on-screen user interface or the browser interface to eject individual discs, all discs of a specific media format, or all discs. Use the front panel buttons of a Kaleidescape Disc Server or a Kaleidescape Disc Vault to eject all discs of a specific media format, or all discs.

When ejecting discs from a Kaleidescape Disc Server or Kaleidescape Disc Vault, you must press the OK button on the front panel to eject discs requested from the on-screen user interface or browser interface. Pressing CANCEL on the front panel will cancel any discs waiting to be ejected.

When ejecting discs from a Modular Disc Vault, the disc sticking out of the slot must be removed within 5 minutes or the vault will retract the disc and cancel all the remaining requested ejections. Discs cannot be ejected by pressing buttons on the front panel of a Modular Disc Vault; use the on-screen user interface or the browser interface. Note: The Modular Disc Vault is out of production, and no longer sold by Kaleidescape.

On-screen User Interface

To eject an individual disc, locate the movie in the on-screen user interface and highlight it using the arrow buttons. Open the details page by pressing OK or ENTER (on the remote or iPad app). Scroll down and select Eject Disc. If the movie has several discs, highlight Eject Disc and select Eject All, or select the particular disc to eject. The movie details page identifies the disc server(s) or disc vault(s) from which to retrieve the ejecting disc(s). 

To eject all the discs from the disc server or disc vault, or all the discs of a specific media format, open the Kaleidescape Menu, select Discs, select the disc server or disc vault by name, and select one of the options on the right.

• Eject all CDs (this option only appears on systems that support music)
• Eject all discs
• Eject discs not required for playback (this option only appears on systems that support the imports of discs)

Browser Interface

The browser interface must be accessed on a device installed on the same local network as the Kaleidescape system.

1. Load the browser interface by visiting:
   • http://my-kaleidescape on Windows,
   • http://my-kaleidescape.local on a Mac, or Windows with iTunes installed,
   • or if those methods fail, http://xxx.www.yyy.zzz on Windows, or Mac, where xxx.www.yyy.zzz is the IP address of the server.

To eject an individual disc or multiple discs, select the Disc Servers (or Disc Vaults) tab to see a list of all discs in all disc servers (or all disc vaults). The list can be sorted by different columns. Check the boxes to the left of the discs to be ejected. Next, click the Eject Selectedbutton at the bottom of the page.

On a Strato system, discs can be ejected individually from the Movies tab or the History tab. On a Premiere system, discs can be ejected individually from the MOVIES tab, the MUSICtab or the IMPORT tab. When a vault is linked to Cinema One (2nd generation), discs can be ejected individually from the Movies and Music tab. In any case, simply locate the title and click on the name. After the details page loads, click the Eject Disc button, or if more than one disc is to be ejected, click Eject Discs. In the dialog box that appears, select the discs to eject and click Eject Selected, or select Eject All to eject all discs. The details window identifies the disc server(s) or disc vault(s) from which to retrieve the ejecting disc(s).

To eject all the discs or all the discs of a specific media type, open the Settings > Components page, and locate the disc server or disc vault at the bottom of the page. Select one of the options.

Front Panel Buttons

Press the OPTIONS button on the front panel of a Kaleidescape Disc Server or a Kaleidescape Disc Vault to cycle through the eject options.

• Eject all CDs? (this option only appears on systems that support music)
• Eject all discs?
• Eject all Blu-ray discs?
• Eject discs not required for playback? (this option only appears on systems that can import discs)

Stop at the desired option and press the OK button on the front panel to eject the discs.
