Must a Kaleidescape System always be connected to the Internet?

Your Kaleidescape System must be connected to the Internet to receive updates of Media Guide information, and to receive kOS software updates. Some systems — notably those installed in yachts — go for days or weeks without being attached to the Internet, and they continue to work correctly during these periods. However, we strongly recommend that you keep your system powered on and connected to the Internet whenever practical so that your kOS software and Media Guide information do not get too out-of-date. Even more important, when your Kaleidescape System is connected to the Internet, Kaleidescape can notify your dealer when we receive an alert that service is needed — for example, if a disk fails or if the server is too hot.
