There are two types of special offers that can reduce the price you pay for a movie with Kaleidescape: 'Digital Offers' and 'Superbundles'. When offers are available for a movie, the Kaleidescape mobile app will show you the original price, as well as the special price, so that you can see how much you’re saving by purchasing the movie with the offer.
If you already own a version of a movie, either on disc or purchased from Kaleidescape, special pricing is sometimes offered when you convert from disc to digital download or upgrade the quality to a higher-quality version (e.g., from a Kaleidescape HD download to a 4K download).
When you’re viewing a movie’s details, you will see an asterisk after the price, indicating that the price is a special-offer price. Just below the purchase button, there is a short explanation of the type of offer, and you can tap that explanation to see a more detailed description of the offer, including the original price.
You can also view all of your digital offers in one place by tapping the More tab, and then selecting Digital Offers. Tap the multiple-selection icon in the top right of the screen to view all of your offers in a list presentation. Each item shows the offer type and both the original and offer price. The multiple-selection view also keeps a running tally of your savings as you shop!
From time to time, working with our studio partners, Kaleidescape offers promotional bundles in which you can qualify for special pricing when you purchase at least a certain number of titles. These bundles appear in the mobile app as special collections, where a bright blue banner is shown above the grid of movies that explains the terms of the offer. Tap the Begin button to begin selecting titles. The summary area at the bottom shows your progress towards qualifying for the bundle.
Once you have qualified for the bundle, you will see all of the original prices of the movies struck through, and the bundle price is shown. This reinforces the fact that you have qualified for the bundle, and are now paying the reduced price for each movie selected.
When multiple offers are available for the same movie, the Kaleidescape store will ensure that you always pay the lowest price. When you have a Digital Offer available for a movie that is also part of a Superbundle, special logic is used to ensure that you pay the most favorable price for the movies you have selected. Let’s look at some examples.
In this offer, when you buy at least three titles, you pay $13.99 each. If we select three movies for the regular price, we can see that all the prices update to show that we’re paying $13.99.
Now let’s look at a case where you have a digital offer for one movie. The digital offer is $9.99, which is lower than the Superbundle price. If we add that movie to the three we selected previously, the store will charge $9.99 for that movie instead of the Superbundle price of $13.99, because that is the most favorable price for you.
But what if we de-selected one of the other titles? Now we can see that the store is actually charging more for that movie than you would pay with the digital offer. What’s going on here?
The reason is that to qualify for the bundle, you must pay the bundle price for at least three movies. Once you have selected the minimum number of titles, the store will figure out whether paying the bundle price for all three movies will save you money compared to buying them at their regular price, including any digital offers. In this case, even though you are paying more for Interstellar than you would pay when buying it in isolation, qualifying for the bundle saves you $38.00 compared to paying regular price for two movies and the $9.99 offer price for Interstellar.
Here's a final example. In this case, digital offers were available for two of the three movies, so the store has recognized that you pay less by paying the regular price for Ad Astra, and the digital offer price for the other two. Paying the Superbundle price for the three movies would have come to $41.97. Note the summary text at the bottom explaining what’s happening.
