How do I set subtitle and language preferences?
Strato Systems and Cinema OneSubtitle and language preferences are configured in the on-screen user interface on Kaleidescape Strato, Kaleidescape Alto, and Cinema One (2nd generation).
1. Press the Menu button on the Kaleidescape remote, or press Menu on the Remote Control page of the Kaleidescape App for iPad, or press the Kaleidescape logo in the top left corner of a touch panel using a Kaleidescape control template.
2. Use the arrow keys to highlight System, then select Settings. The Settings page appears.
3. Select Language/Subtitles.
4. Select the Preferred Movie Language
5. Choose an option in the Movie Audio section.
- Play movie audio in original language. Movie audio is always played in the movie's original language.
- Play movie audio in <preferred language> if available. Audio for your preferred language is played if available. Otherwise, the movie's original language is used.
6. Choose an option in the Subtitles & Closed Captions section.
- Show <preferred language> subtitles when the audio is not <preferred language>. When a movie's audio is not your preferred language, subtitles for your preferred language are displayed if available.
- Show <preferred language> subtitles for deaf and hard of hearing. If no subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing are available, closed captions or regular subtitles will be shown if possible.
- Show <preferred language> closed captions. If no closed captions are available, subtitles will be used if possible.
Premiere SystemsSubtitle and language preferences are configured in the browser interface on a Premiere system. The browser interface must be accessed from a device connected to the same local network as the Premiere system.
1. In the address bar of a web browser, enter:

3. Select Components from the second row of tabs if not already selected.
4. Click the Settings button to for the player. A new window appears.
5. Select the LANGUAGE tab.
6. From the My preferred language is a drop-down menu, choose your preferred language. Two new sections appear.
7. Choose an option in the Movie Audio section.
- I prefer to hear movies in their original language. Movie audio is always played in the movie's original language.
- I prefer to hear movies dubbed into <preferred language> if available. Audio for your preferred language is played if available. Otherwise, the movie's original language is used.
8. Choose an option in the Subtitles & Closed Captions section.
- Show <preferred language> subtitles when the audio is not <preferred language>. When a movie's audio is not your preferred language, subtitles for your preferred language are displayed if available.
- Show <preferred language> subtitles for deaf and hard of hearing. If no subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing are available, closed captions or regular subtitles will be shown if possible.
- Show <preferred language> closed captions. If no closed captions are available, subtitles will be used if possible.
9. Click OK to save changes.
On any system, the soundtrack and subtitles can be changed during playback from the movie overlay. After the movie starts, press the Info button on a Kaleidescape remote, or press INFO on the Remote Control page of the Kaleidescape App for iPad, or press Playback Options on a touch panel using a Kaleidescape control template. The movie overlay appears. Use the arrow buttons to locate the Audio or Subtitle selections and change them accordingly.
